Computer systems are complex and often (especially due to the recent growth of service-oriented architectures) connect many legacy systems, perhaps at the fault of different software providers. A systems development life cycle (SDLC) is a type of methodology used to describe the information systems process of gathering information on systems in a very deliberate, methodical, and structured manner that documents each phase of the development life cycle. Phases of SDLC

The old model, originally as the systems development life cycle “model is a waterfall: a sequence of stages, where each stage of production contributes to the next. CCES can break down job creation or change by identifying products in ten stages. The tenth stage occurs when the system is configured and work is done, or eliminated or transferred to other systems. The functions and working results for the different phases are described in the following sections. All projects require phases to be completed sequentially. However, the phases are interdependent. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, the phases may be combined or may overlap.
